Central Dalmatia
Filburg won the 1st prize in the public competition for the visual identity of the Split-Dalmatia County Tourist Board.
Dalmatia primarily represents the art of living. The Dalmatian lifestyle is direct, spontaneous and vibrant; every small thing and every moment here can become interesting and unforgettable. Outlined by a timeless landscape, Dalmatia is a place where stone meets sea, passion meets relaxation, ancient meets new — it is precisely in the view of the open sea that these pairs are reflected and transform the extroversion of beautiful nature into introspection of our every moment.
That's why we chose the horizon as the key motif of our concept proposal — a motif charged with multiple symbolism but primarily a motif that enables an atmospheric approach to the visual system, one that has the potential to communicate the Dalmatian lifestyle in a discreet and elegant way.
Things are reflected on the horizon, it is infinite — it completely surrounds us — but also invites us to discover secrets hidden beneath it. By placing the logo in the horizon's cut, an archetypal sign is created that visually evokes many essentially Dalmatian stories, from antiquity — the treatment of letters implies both Roman capitals and some Greek letters — through the sun, mountains and sails above the open sea, to sophistication and elegance. Above all, it establishes a relationship with its natural context.
Photographs take the lead in our system's communication. Direct, imperfect, full of life — human — they are records of primordial Dalmatian moments, and the logo above the horizon is their enhancement and signature.
Our goal was to create a system that primarily breathes the unique Dalmatian approach to life through its atmosphere, a system that will intuitively inspire viewers with each incarnation to think or, even better, feel — "Lipo mi je." ("I feel good/beautiful.")
