Dubrovnik Jazz Outbreak
For the fifth edition of Dubrovnik Jazz Outbreak festival, an autumn event organized by Dubrovačka baština, Dubrovnik Tourist Board, and City of Dubrovnik, which brings world-class jazz musicians to Dubrovnik – we designed a new visual identity and communication.
Using jazz methods – collage, improvisation, phrasing – we created a typographic logo that interweaves Dubrovnik and jazz. Each term has its own typeface, corresponding to the theme and era, and through composition the logo evokes not only musicality but also the stone of the city walls and Stradun, as well as the infiltration of jazz – a positive type of contagion – into the city.
The colors alternate equally and rhythmically between turquoise and terracotta, cold and warm, sentimental and dynamic, while this year's visuals depict swifts as permanent and characteristic "musicians" on the Dubrovnik city scene, alternating with trumpets that announce the festival.
